it's about good looks
it's about your sad little story
the way you like to see and watch and eat
and my grandfather
pledges his allegiance to the dead
rather than the living
and it makes me sad
when the rain falls in July
flowerpots drowning
laundry dripping
and it smells like wood
and headache
from time to time
the world makes me sad
so much I want to use old-fashioned words to describe it
and I want choirs singing my eulogy down from the housetops
a eulogy to a world that once must have been.
